Right now, the focus of the Marvel fandom is on next week’s highly anticipated Avengers: Endgame release. But once the Phase 3 finale has come and gone, the MCU will still have one more movie on the schedule this year in the form of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is now said to be headed for cinemas a little sooner than expected.
Sony has just announced that Peter Parker’s next solo outing is now set for release on July 2nd, which falls three days earlier than the previously scheduled date of July 5th. It’s thought that the Tuesday debut will give the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel a head start on the Fourth of July holiday frame, not that the web-slinger’s comeback needed any extra help to top the box office on its first weekend.
In any case, that still leaves us with almost 11 weeks to wait until the film’s release, though we already know a fair amount about the upcoming flick. For one thing, we can tell you that Tom Holland’s hero will be taking a trip through Europe with his classmates, and that his vacation will be interrupted by the arrival of Nick Fury.
What’s more, the famed Avengers assembler is going to pair Spider-Man up with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, and send him on a mission to fight Elementals across the continent. That being said, given the tense history between Peter and Quentin in the comics, we wouldn’t bet on the two of them staying friends for long.
Of course, before any of these events can unfold, we first have to find out how Spidey and Fury are back in the world of the living after each suffering a sad fate in Avengers: Infinity War. Our answer will surely come when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, before Spider-Man: Far From Home arrives on the newly announced date of July 2nd.
