Spider-Man: Homecoming Star Michael Keaton Praises Marvel As A Well Oiled Machine

Spider-Man: Homecoming is shaping up to be one of 2017's most exciting superhero movies, and a big part of that comes down to the fact that Michael Keaton is playing The Vulture. Despite bringing Batman to the big screen alongside Tim Burton back in 1989, no one really expected him to star in a modern comic book movie given his recent Oscar calibre work.

However, like a lot of other actors, it appears as if it was Marvel Studios and the way it’s run which helped convince Keaton that he should join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I have thought about the way things have changed, because I just did Spider-Man, and Marvel? That is one well-oiled machine. It is remarkable how they have got that whole thing covered in a really qualitative way. Just how efficient it is, in the best sense, and how it operates on a practical level. How organized they are about what they make and how conscientious they are about what they have. They’ve got really wonderful actors for one thing, but I guess that has always been the case. They really get that script is important, and they really protect their lore and that culture and they see the enormity of it, on a capitalistic level.”

Interestingly, Keaton admitted that he hasn’t seen any of Marvel’s other movies, but considering the fact that Spider-Man: Homecoming is a completely fresh start for the wall-crawler, that doesn’t really matter. Some fans probably won’t appreciate that fact, but it really has no impact on the quality of the actor’s performance at the end of the day.

Very little is known about the role of the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, though it’s clear that Adrian Toomes is going to be a formidable threat to the young Peter Parker. He may not be as a big a name as the likes of the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, but if there’s anyone who can help make the Vulture A-List, it’s Michael Keaton.
