Spider-Man: Homecoming Gets Updated Synopsis; Two Trailers Expected To Drop Tonight

Ahead of tonight's two-fold trailer reveal, Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland has shared new details on the reboot's story.

The good news just keeps coming for Spidey fans. After unveiling our first official peek at an unmasked Peter Parker, Marvel has announced that tonight will see the release of not one, but two teaser trailers for Spider-Man: Homecoming – a domestic one premiering via Jimmy Kimmel Live, along with an international sizzle reel boasting “a few different shots and lines of dialogue.”

Word comes by way of USA Today, where Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige confirmed that, yes, those pining for Homecoming footage ought to have plenty to chew on before the day is over.

“The first trailers will be unveiled online Thursday night — one domestic (premiering on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and one international. with a few different shots and lines of dialogue between them. ‘Enough where I thought it would be fun for people to see both.”

Poised to re-introduce a character that’s a far cry from the finished article, Spider-Man: Homecoming welcomes the return of Tom Holland as the titular hero. He’s a flawed hero at that, after the actor revealed to USA Today that Peter Parker is just a regular kid gifted with superhuman abilities.

“This is really a movie where Spider-Man’s not the finished article. He really does learn and he makes massive mistakes. It’s nice to see a kid do that and then try to rectify those mistakes.”

That ought to ensure Spider-Man: Homecoming retains a human element amid the blockbuster action, much of which will center around Parker’s clash with The Vulture. Further in the piece, the film’s co-producer, Eric Hauserman Carroll, touched base on Peter’s mindset coming out of Captain America: Civil War. Said he: “[Peter Parker] literally just went to Europe with the coolest clique of them all. And now he’s back with the academic decathlon and the mathletes and going, ‘What am I doing here?’”

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens on July 7, 2017. You can find that updated synopsis embedded below and don’t forget, we’ll have full coverage of those Homecoming trailers – both domestic and international – the moment they go live on Jimmy Kimmel later this evening.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
