It’s now been well over a week since the first Spider-Man: Far From Home teaser premiered at CCXP in Brazil, but while the recent rumors suggested that the rest of us only had a few days longer to wait before we saw some footage, a new report has pushed that impending trailer drop even further into the future.
Last Wednesday, frequent leaker Daniel RPK seemed pretty confident in his prediction that we’d be getting a preview for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel before our current week is out. Now, however, it seems he’s heard otherwise, taking to Twitter to share the disappointing news:
“After hearing from multiple sources – No trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home this week either. Not online anyway.”
Daniel went on to stress that “It was supposed to drop this week,” raising the question of why Sony would change its mind. Indeed, the Trailer Track Twitter account offered some speculation of their own on the matter, while arguing that it would be in the studio’s best interest to release the teaser this week:
“If it’s indeed not this week (which would be STUPID from Sony given how much Aquaman is on track to make) then it’s probably with Holmes and Watson. It’s all ready for theatres as we mentioned previously, they’re kinda on the clock on releasing it”
All in all, the situation remains unclear, but if the trailer doesn’t come before Christmas, then it certainly sounds like we won’t have too much longer to wait.
In the meantime, the teaser’s CCXP screening and the film’s accompanying panel have already given us plenty to process. For one thing, the preview reportedly suggests that the inevitable romance between Peter Parker and Michelle “MJ” Jones is finally underway. And speaking of pair-ups, Spider-Man is also confirmed to have an unlikely partnership with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio, as the two of them team up to fight Elementals across Europe.
If we don’t get to witness all this sooner, then we’ll see it when Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5th, 2019.
