As much as fans are eagerly anticipating Daniel Craig’s final turn as 007, there’s a whole lot of negative press swarming around Bond 25. As well as numerous delays and the high-profile exit of Danny Boyle from the director’s chair, rumors and reports have pointed to the latest James Bond outing being in total disarray, and that’s not even mentioning Craig’s recent injury which halted production for a time.
It seems Sony is trying to redirect the narrative a bit now though with this video that dropped on the official James Bond YouTube account this morning. The 60-second long featurette offers a glossy look at filming in Jamaica, capturing the beautiful locations, the local performers as well as shots of director Cary Fukunaga busy at work. Craig himself appears to be having a great time, too, working on his swansong as the super-spy and from watching this, you wouldn’t know anything was amiss.
The video also gives us a glimpse of two of Craig’s co-stars in the movie. Jeffrey Wright is reprising his role as Felix Leiter, Bond’s pal at the CIA, for the first time since 2008’s Quantum of Solace, and can be seen speaking to someone (Bond?) in a club. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch appears as Nomi in this video, looking dressed to kill. Those not featured in the featurette include Ana de Armas as Paloma and Lea Seydoux’s Madeline Swann, returning from Spectre. And perhaps most significantly, we still haven’t got our first look at Rami Malek’s mysterious villain.
From what we know about the plot so far, Bond 25 will begin with 007 enjoying his retirement with Madeline in Jamaica when Felix calls on his old pal for his help in discovering a missing scientist. This leads the secret agent on his latest globe-trotting mission to thwart an enigmatic foe who’s got his hands on a dangerous new technology. Look for it to blast into cinemas on April 8th, 2020.
