Swinging onto 4K Blu-ray this October is the Spider-Man Legacy Collection box set from Sony, an epic 12-disc set that’s sure to be a must own item for any Spidey fan.
Tied into the home video release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which also drops the same month, the collection will bundle together Sam Raimi’s original trilogy along with Marc Webb’s two outings, making for five films in total. If this sounds familiar, it’ll be because the Legacy Collection is already available on Blu-ray. This is simply a re-release for 4K Blu-ray, though there will be a few extra goodies bundled in as well.
For one, we’ll be getting the Editor’s Cut of Spider-Man 3, which is doesn’t necessarily improve the threequel a whole lot, but it does splice in a few alternate scenes in addition to cutting some out. Even if you thought it to be the weakest entry of the trilogy, which it most definitely is, we’d still suggest giving this new cut of Spider-Man 3 a watch.
On top of that, there’s also a number of featurettes, commentaries, behind the scenes docs and everything else that you’d expect on a collection like this, rounding out what sounds like a truly awesome package. Not to mention that its October 17th release date makes it a good pick for a Christmas present if you’ve got any Spidey fans on your list.
As for Homecoming, the Blu-ray hasn’t been detailed just yet, but stay tuned for more as we get closer to its debut. In the meantime, be sure to check out the awesome box art for the Spider-Man Legacy Collection down below and let us know in the comments section if you plan on picking this up.
