Despite the fact that Sony has decided to confound us all by building a cinematic universe of their own comprised of Spider-Man’s supporting characters that doesn’t seem to actually be inhabited by the icon himself, it’s very hard not to look forward to a movie starring Black Cat and Silver Sable, even if it could use a better title than Silver & Black. Well, the film is bound to have more than a few detractors, regardless, but you can’t help being the slightest bit curious.
Still, the studio continues to give us cause for concern by seemingly shoehorning as many characters as possible into the movie. Now, a few of them make some sense as it allows for some cross-pollination with Venom, but in order for this thing to truly thrive, it’s best it not become too bloated. Well, that is unless the filmmakers know how to pull off a balancing act just as Christopher Nolan and the Russo Brothers have been able to, but it’s hard to overlook the fact that this is coming from the same studio that gave us Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
According to the folks over at That Hashtag Show, even more Marvel characters are expected to join the party in the form of Silver Sable’s team of mercenaries, the Wild Pack:
Joining Powell and Klein (who definitely will NOT resemble Lorna Kleinfeldt), will be Wild Pack members Chen, Arnold, and Morty. Powell will be Silver’s right-hand man and, just like in the comics, Morty will be her executive assistant. It looks as if Sony is taking a little inspiration from the Ultimate universe as in the film Chen will be a male merc and not the more well-known female bad-ass from the comics.
Given that this flick is said to be Marvel’s answer to Thelma & Louise, one would expect the Wild Pack to not take up too much screentime, but you never know. Either way, all will be revealed when Silver & Black arrives in theaters on February 8, 2019.
