Currently shooting in London is the hotly anticipated Ridley Scott film The Counselor. Based on a Cormac McCarthy penned script, the film is slow building buzz as moviegoers everywhere marvel at the talent behind the project.
Aside from McCarthy (who is a Pulitzer prize winning author) and Scott (who, of course, needs no introduction), the film boasts a cast that includes names like Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt.
If you’re still not hooked, check out the plot summary below:
The Counselor revolves around a clean-nosed attorney (Michael Fassbender) who devises a “fail-safe” scheme that involves a rich acquaintance with criminal ties (Javier Bardem), where the two will personally offload $20 million of cocaine from across the Mexican border, with assistance from a shady fellow who knows his way around the biz (Brad Pitt).
Reaching theatres sometime in the second half of 2013, The Counselor is being described as “No Country for Old Men on steroids.” From the sound of things, I fully believe that.
Said to be full of “simple yet eloquent dialogue” and “disturbing and violent proceedings,” I think it’s safe to say that Mr. Scott has a bonafide hit on his hands, one that will surely rack up some Awards.
In the meantime, as we wait patiently for our first glimpse of footage from the film, the two set photos below (of Mr. Pitt and Mr. Fassbender) will have to do.
