Could We See A Rocket/Groot Spinoff After Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2?

The brand new trailer for James Gunn's Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 was released over the weekend, and went down very well indeed with the majority of fans. Not too surprisingly, the most talked about element was Baby Groot, who definitely stole the teaser with the hilarious/adorable moments he shared with best pal Rocket Raccoon. Given the immense popularity these characters already enjoyed after the first film, could we see a Rocket/Groot spinoff happen someday? Vin Diesel seems fairly confident that we will.

The Fast and Furious actor – who will once again provide the voice of Groot in the sequel – was interviewed by Screen Junkies at Brazil’s CCXP the other day, and had some very interesting things to say about not only the prospect of Rocket and Groot getting their own movie, but also a fight between the sentient tree alien and The Incredible Hulk at some point in the future.

I think if it’s up to James Gunn, you are going to see a Groot and Rocket movie after Infinity War. I think that’s highly possible. We shall see. I know that, somewhere in the universe, you are going to see Groot and Hulk battle. You can write it somewhere. You are going to see that poster: Hulk vs. Groot.

To be honest, the Rocket/Groot stuff sounds more like wishful thinking, as Diesel has been known to get a bit head of himself in the past. Then again, he may well have been privy to some solid intel from the Marvel Studios higher-ups. He does seem more certain that Groot will throw down with The Hulk at some point however – could that happen in Avengers: Infinity War, perhaps?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will blast into heaters on May 5th, 2017. In the meantime, you can check out the 8 best moments from the new trailer right here.
