Director David Fincher and screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker, who collaborated to make one of Fincher’s best films, Se7en, are re-uniting to work on 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, based on the 1954 Disney live-action film.
While David Fincher has become one of the biggest directors in Hollywood, directing such recent films as The Social Network, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Fight Club, Andrew Kevin Walker hasn’t really worked on a major feature-film since Se7en. Except for The Wolfman, and we’ll just pretend to forget about that.
Se7en definitely has a captivating screenplay, with scenes that are now iconic pop culture references, particularly the ending scene with “the box.” Even Tosh.0 did a sketch about it, and it’s been over ten years.
Hopefully, Andrew Kevin Walker‘s time away from writing films hasn’t diminished his talent, and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea can be held up to classic Disney standards.
