Scream VI is now just over one week away from slicing its way into cinemas, and sacrilegious horror fans are deciding that now is the time to reveal their shocking opinion that Ghostface should be stopped for good after just one more movie. 2022’s Scream successfully reinvigorated the slasher saga, after it had laid dormant for years since original director Wes Craven’s death, and this March’s second entry in the new trilogy promises to continue that momentum, what with its relocation to New York City.
While you might think horror lovers would be totally up for Radio Silence filmmakers Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin riding this high for as long as they can, however, Scream subredditors seem in agreement that the series should call it quits, at least for a while, once the current trilogy has wrapped up. In regards to a post inquiring how many Scream movies are being planned, Reddit users floated the idea that Scream VII should really be where the genre-savvy slashing comes to an end.
Let’s have the Scream 2020s trilogy play out and then store the Ghostface mask away for the indefinite future.
Alternatively, others are happy for Radio Silence to run the thing into the ground as much as they like.
If it keeps rolling in the dough, why let it go?
On the other hand, calling it a day with Scream 7 is probably the wisest course of action, to ensure the series doesn’t fall into the same traps as so many other horror franchises before it.
Starring Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, and many more, Scream VI releases on March 10.
