Ah, to be involved with Marvel Studios right now. After concluding a trilogy of phases over the course of ten years, our favorite superhero movie-house is set to crank the ridiculousness meter up to 11 with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is said to be the first pure horror film of the series. While not much is known about the actual plot of the pic just yet, that hasn’t stopped director Scott Derrickson from dropping the odd hint or two on his Twitter feed.
Earlier today, the filmmaker tweeted a still from one of Doctor Strange’s comics, which features the titular hero staring at a small, little baby universe, created right in front of him. He seems baffled and astonished, since the good doctor thought it was just a light, I guess. The panel is preceded by a quote of some Jimi Hendrix lyrics: “Are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have.”
That’s, like, super trippy, man! Whoa!
Are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced?
Well, I have

Fans have been interpreting this Tweet as Derrickson making a nod towards an infamous storyline called “House of M.” In that run, Scarlet Witch somehow creates an alternate universe where everyone’s dreams came true and they get everything they’ve ever wanted. That storyline concluded with Wanda erasing all mutants from existence though, which sounds like the feel good story of the summer. That might not be a bad way to bring those pesky X-Men into the fray though now, huh?
In either case, I’m super looking forward to seeing Benny Bandersnatch fight weird inter-dimensional creatures and, hopefully, erase H.P. Lovecraft’s racism from all universes. The first movie was a rick-rolling good time, so I don’t think it’s a bad thing to expect something even cooler the second time around. As always, keep your eyes peeled here for more Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness news as it drops.
