Salma Hayek Unleashes More Of Her Inner Badass In New Trailer For Everly

The first international trailer for the female-centric actioner, Everly, landed late last year and promised a helluva blood-soaked caper. With that memorable teaser still in mind, it seemed impossible for any future previews to tweak the footage in an even more enticing way. That, however, is exactly the cast with this latest U.S. trailer that made its way online earlier today.

To catch up those who aren’t familiar with the movie, Salma Hayek plays Everly, a prostitute in the crosshairs of her dangerous Yakuza boss. After a certain event causes her superior, Taiko, to put a $50,000 bounty on her head for whoever can kill her, she must do whatever it takes to survive. From low-life drug dealers to highly-skilled assassins, the trapped woman becomes a target for anyone in the vicinity who’s keen to cash in.

While its story shares central elements with many movies of a similar ouevre, there’s much more to this tale than meets the eye. Could it be the genre-lovin’ skills of director Joe Lynch which seem to elevate this from bargain bin fodder to worthy B-movie? Judging by this trailer, I’d have to say yes. The tight cuts, kinetic energy and booming thrash soundtrack, twinned with some killer one-liners, provide plenty for action lovers to soak up.

You can check it out for yourself above, along with the plot summary below, before Everly arrives on iTunes January 23rd, followed by its theatrical release on February 27th.
