Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are planning a project that will reunite them with Crazy, Stupid, Love star Steve Carell. The yet-to-be-titled film is built on the premise of a group of friends in their forties that decide to take a backpacking trip through Europe.
That’s not the only project they have in development though. The directing duo is also looking to reunite with two other Crazy, Stupid, Love stars, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
Deadline tells us that Stone and Gosling my star in a film called Focus that is being set up at Warner Bros. Ficarra and Requa will direct their own script and it is said to revolve around “a veteran con man who gets involved with a newcomer to the grifter business. They get involved romantically but that becomes perilous in a business where they lie and cheat for a living. The complications of the encounter haunt them when they meet up again in the future.”
It sounds like an promising project and if Gosling and Stone do indeed reunite, it will be the third time that we see them on screen together (the second time being Gangster Squad, which releases this year).
Having enjoyed their chemistry in Crazy, Stupid, Love, I’m looking forward to seeing Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone work together again. They’re both very talented young actors and to see them teaming up again with Ficarra and Requa is definitely something that pleases me.
