Today, thanks to IGN, we have our first look at Rupert Friend in the upcoming Hitman reboot Agent 47. Coming to us from 20th Century Fox and director Aleksander Bach, the film was originally set to star Paul Walker as the titular assassin. When he passed away, Friend came on board to replace him and now, cameras are set to get rolling next week in Berlin.
Co-starring Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware, not much is known about the film just yet but from what we’ve heard, it will follow Agent 47 as he tries to protect a waitress that’s been targeted by a group called the Syndicate.
The last time we saw the bald-headed killer on screen was in 2007’s Hitman with Timothy Olyphant in the lead role. The film wasn’t received too well, earning itself a 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. That being said, it did do about $100 million at the box office, which was obviously enough for the studio to take a chance on the property again.
Given that the video game franchise that the film is based on still has a large and loyal fanbase, I imagine that it will be able to do solid business at the box office, at the very least. As for how it will turn out quality wise, it’s still far too early to tell, but I’m not expecting much. After all, the same guys who penned the original are behind the script for this one.
