A lot of information about Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been revealed this week, and now yet another unanswered question has been addressed courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Talking to the publication, director J.J. Abrams confirmed that he locked the movie at midnight on November 3rd, 2015, with editing now complete.
However, special effects need to be finalized and one last scoring session with John Williams is also on the cards before Star Wars: The Force Awakens is officially completed. As it’s already been edited though, Abrams was happy to confirm that the running time is going to be 2 hours and 15 minutes.
[zergpaid]Blockbusters which stretch beyond two and a half hours tend to feel a little bloated, so this is a decent length. Many fans would no doubt be happy to watch a three hour cut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but that wouldn’t make good business sense, especially as that would limit the number of screens it can play on in theaters.
Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on December 17th.
