What a week it’s been for that galaxy far, far away.
From a thrilling new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker teaser trailer, to a bunch of fresh details releasing about the upcoming final chapter, Star Wars fever has once again well and truly struck back. And with Celebration still going on in Chicago, some interesting new casting rumors have begun to circulate.
As you may already know, the iconic sci-fi franchise has been filled to the brim with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it celebrity cameos. That’s right, Simon Pegg, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Edgar Wright, Kevin Smith, Gary Barlow and even Prince William and Prince Harry (whose Stormtroopers scene was cut from The Last Jedi) have all suited up for cameo roles in the super popular series. However, one question that’s been on many fans’ minds is what celebrity cameos will appear in Star Wars: The Rise Of The Skywalker?
Well, according to sources close to the studio, it’s looking likely that pop singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran will be playing a Stormtrooper in the final chapter of Disney’s upcoming sci-fi epic. Additionally, trendy British chef and restauranteur Jaime Oliver has also shot a Stormtrooper cameo and will appear in the same scene as Sheeran. Their cameos will apparently take place on a snow planet where they’ll play standard white First Order Stormtroopers.
Finally, a more obvious celebrity cameo will come from Stephen Colbert, who hosted the official Rise of Skywalker panel this week and will portray a Stormtrooper as well.
As is the case with any rumors of this sort, do take them with a pinch of salt until they’re confirmed by the studio. That said, with an uber-popular franchise this big, the iconic series definitely has the magnetic power to pull in those aforementioned celebrities. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play a part in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, right?
