Rotten Tomatoes Names A Quiet Place Best-Reviewed Horror Movie Of 2018

A Quiet Place was a bigger smash with audiences and critics than just about anyone could’ve anticipated, and now that 2018 is officially over, Rotten Tomatoes has recognized this glowing reception by honoring John Krasinski’s film with the Golden Tomato Award for Best-Reviewed Horror Movie of the year.

The prize goes to the 2018 horror flick with the best “Adjusted Score,” which is based on both the film’s Tomatometer score and the number of reviews that the movie has listed on the site. Sure enough, A Quiet Place sits at the top of the list with a score of 95% based on 330 reviews, while the rest of the top five is rounded out in descending order by Hereditary, Mandy, Halloween, and Overlord.

Taking in $340.7 million at the global box office on a budget of roughly one twentieth that size, A Quiet Place had the profitability to match its critical acclaim, making it inevitable that a sequel would soon be announced. As it stands, we’ve only heard vague details about the content of A Quiet Place 2, but we do know that Krasinski’s at work on a script, and said just earlier this month that he’d “love to direct,” or at least give the project to someone else with his “fingerprints” on it to “make sure it’s being taken care of.”

Krasinski has admitted himself to having “a parental feeling” about A Quiet Place as well, which has encouraged him to stick with the series and do all he can to keep it in line with the spirit of the first movie. We’ll find out if the sequel can live up to these standards when it hits theaters on May 15th, 2020.
