Deadline reports that actress Rosamund Pike (Barney’s Version) is in negotiations to star opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot. To be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film is an adaptation of the Lee Child’s bestselling novel of the same name, and features the author’s popular protagonist Jack Reacher.
In the film, Jack Reacher (Cruise) is a retired military police officer who travels across the United States, often getting involved in cases which put his life on the line.
While investigating the case of a sniper charged with murdering five victims before being captured, he discovers that the man’s protests of innocence may be more fact than fiction. Pike will play the man’s attorney in the film, Helen Rodin, who works with Reacher to discover the truth behind the shootings.
I’ve actually read the novel, and while I’m not too keen on the idea of Cruise playing Jack Reacher, I fully support Pike’s casting. She’s a beautiful woman and I’m sure she’ll make a great lead.
What do you think of the casting choice?
