The casting announcements are coming in fast for the next Christopher Nolan film. Just yesterday, for instance, the news broke that BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington had landed a major role in the still-untitled flick, and now Collider is reporting that Robert Pattinson is set to join the line-up.
While Pattinson initially made a name for himself through his work in the Twilight and Harry Potter films, the actor has since moved aware from major franchise fare and built up some serious indie cred, collaborating with esteemed directors like David Cronenberg (Cosmopolis, Maps to the Stars), James Gray (The Lost City of Z), the Safdie Brothers (Good Time) and Claire Denis (High Life).
In related news, Variety also reported today that Elizabeth Debicki has joined the cast. Having previously landed roles in The Night Manager, The Great Gatsby and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the actress had an especially big 2018 that included turns in Widows, Peter Rabbit and The Cloverfield Paradox.
Like a real-life Nolan movie, the pieces are slowly coming together for this mysterious project, though plot details remain heavily under wraps. While Collider has heard speculation that the film could be “a sequel of sorts to Inception,” even they have their doubts that this will be the case. But for what it’s worth, Deadline has also relayed the rumor that the movie will be an “action blockbuster in the spirit of North by Northwest.”
With a script now completed and production expected to start this summer, hopefully we won’t have too long to wait until further details emerge. But in the meantime, the most passionate Christopher Nolan fans probably won’t need any new info to get hyped for the film’s release on July 17th, 2020.
