So when the director hopped on Instagram a few weeks back to say that “it took a while to complete the trilogy but we did it,” fans understandably assumed that the long-awaited follow-up to The Devil’s Rejects was about to complete its journey into theaters.

Sadly, however, it seems that Rob didn’t get his message across clearly, as the film isn’t done quite yet and today, he returned to Instagram to give us a brief status update, sharing the following message while also dropping two new photos (seen in the gallery below):

“Quick update. 3 From Hell is moving along great. Beginning the final stages of post production. Whew, this fucker has been a lot of work.”

Though both of these pics tease that some courtroom drama awaits us, don’t be fooled into thinking that this is going to be a more toned down and grounded outing for the director. In fact, star Bill Moseley recently promised us that the long-awaited Devil’s Rejects sequel will definitely be bringing the gore and violence.

“It’s chockablock with gratuitous violence [laughs], which is great, because lately there have been a lot of good horror movies that just don’t have a lot of that,” he said. “I mean, the violence is skillful, it’s effective, but it’s not gratuitous, and that’s what I think the fans are missing. I think we just want a lot of violence for violence’s sake—decapitations, shotguns to the face, just general ass-kickin’ stuff that we’re not really getting much of these day.”

That’s certainly exciting to hear, and though an official release date still eludes Three From Hell, we imagine it’ll be here in Q3, at which point, Moseley assures us that our “mindsies are gonna be big time blown.” And even if it doesn’t land until Q4, is it really that big a deal? I mean, if we can wait almost fourteen years for a follow-up to Devil’s Rejects, then what difference would a couple more months make?
