Update: Nipping at the undead heels of this morning’s teaser, IGN has premiered the full-length domestic trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which plots course for Paradise City Raccoon City.
Original Story: In bringing the curtain down on its lucrative, long-running franchise, Screen Gems is ready to order Alice (Milla Jovovich) back to where it all began: Raccoon City.
For in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, our gun-toting heroine will be fighting for a humanity on the absolute brink of extinction – a last-ditch scrap that leads Jovovich’s hardened lead back to ground zero. That may sound overly familiar to fans of this most resilient movie series, but in The Final Chapter, Alice will be aiming to dismantle the nefarious Umbrella Corporation (and that dastardly Red Queen) once and for all.
Pegged to arrive in January – not exactly a release window that inspires confidence, but nevertheless – Resident Evil: The Final Chapter welcomes the return of a familiar face in Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield, headlining a cast that also features Game of Thrones star Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, William Levy and Fraser James.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is penciled in for theatrical release on January 27, 2017.
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
