Despite the initial back-and-forth surrounding Michael Keaton’s involvement, concept art emerging from SDCC yesterday confirmed that, yes, the Oscar-winning star is attached to the villainous role of Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming. But he won’t be the only big bad to give Tom Holland’s wet-behind-the-ears Spidey a run for his money.
At least, that’s according to a report from the Diamond Select Toys Minimates’ Panel (via CBM), claiming that one panelist may have accidentally revealed the identity of two new enemies that are bound for Jon Watts’ 2017 reboot.
[zerg]At the time of going to press, neither Sony nor Marvel offered to comment on the allegations, but should they hold true, Peter Parker will be going toe-to-toe with both Tinkerer and Shocker in little under a year’s time.
This toy panel just seemingly (accidentally?) confirmed that Vulture, Tinkerer, *and* Shocker are all in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. #SDCC2016

@benmekler They didn’t show anything. Came up from them talking about how they don’t have enough reference pics for those characters yet.

Word of those purported villains arrives in tandem with the official, all-too-brief synopsis for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which reads as so: “A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
To date, Marvel has enlisted a who’s who of Hollywood talent to join Holland in the standalone feature, including Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Keaton, Logan Marshall-Green, Donald Glover, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Michael Mando, Bokeem Woodbine, Abraham Attah, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Garcelle Beauvais, Tiffany Espensen, Zendaya and The Nice Guys breakout Angourie Rice. And…exhale.
Promising to be “an awful lot of fun,” Spider-Man: Homecoming shoots for theaters on July 7, 2017.
