Red Writers To Pen Sony’s Big Screen Adaptation Of Gran Turismo

The next few years is going to be very interesting for video game adaptations. Hitman: Agent 47 didn't go down too well earlier this year, so all eyes will be on Assassin's Creed in 2016 to see if it can break the curse and help make video game movies just as popular as comic book ones.

The next few years is going to be very interesting for video game adaptations. Hitman: Agent 47 didn’t go down too well earlier this year, so all eyes will be on Assassin’s Creed in 2016 to see if it can break the curse and help make video game movies just as popular as comic book ones.

Need for Speed was brought to the big screen with mixed results not too long ago, and now Sony are looking to turn Gran Turismo into a racing franchise which may just end up giving Fast and Furious a run for its money.

Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but it has been revealed today that Red writers Jon and Erich Hoeber are set to pen the screenplay. Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion, Tron: Legacy) is still attached to direct and is expected to work with the bothers on the movie. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it was previously reported that the story will revolve around a gamer who becomes a racer.

Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti, Josh Bratman, DeVon Franklin, and Elizabeth Cantillon are producing Gran Turismo.

As well as writing Red and Red 2, the Hoebers are also responsible for Battleship and the upcoming The Last Witch Hunter. Do you think they’re the right choice to develop this property? Sound off below and let us know.
