Read Max Landis’ Original Power Rangers Script

In a little under two months, Lionsgate will release their much anticipated Power Rangers reboot. For those who don’t know, Power Rangers was written by John Gatins, but if you cast your mind back to 2014, you might remember that originally, Chronicle scribe Max Landis was hired to pen the reboot. Unfortunately, Lionsgate decided not to go with his script and we never really got a chance to see what the writer dreamed up. Until now, that is.

A Reddit user managed to get a copy of Landis’ original draft – don’t ask us how – and posted it online for all to see. While you might question the authenticity of it, Landis himself has confirmed that it is indeed real, Tweeting the following earlier today:

Obviously, it’s hard to say whether or not this version is better than what Lionsgate ended up going with since we haven’t seen the film yet. That being said, we know that Landis has been pretty vocal about the reboot in the past, with much of what he’s said not being terribly positive, so we imagine that what’s in his script is quite different than what you’ll see next month on the big screen.

Different doesn’t necessarily mean worse, though, and as we said above, after that second trailer, which lightened up the mood and was a whole lot more fun than the first one, we’re pretty psyched to see what Lionsgate’s got in store for us. Thankfully, we don’t have too much longer to wait, as Power Rangers will morph into theaters on March 24th, 2017 – without Max Landis’ script.
