Just a few hours ago, the title for Jonathan Levine’s Christmas comedy reteam with his 50/50 stars Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was revealed as The Night Before, and now the red band trailer for the film has made its way online.
The film centers on three childhood friends, Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen), and Chris (Anthony Mackie) who aim to cap off a long-running tradition of making Christmas Eve a night of sheer debauchery before accepting their new responsibilities as adults. In an effort to create a night to remember, they set out to find the notorious Nutcracka Ball.
The first trailer for the pic is an absolute riot, as we knew it would be, complete with a shockingly good rendition of Kanye West’s “Runaway,” manchildren running wild and lots of drug-fueld shenanigans. This is certainly more of a raunchy comedy than 50/50, which surprised as a bittersweet dramatic comedy with a lot to say about friendship, love and mortality – and I’m completely fine with that, especially with a cast and director this ideally matched.
Lizzy Caplan, Jillian Bell, Michael Shannon and Mindy Kaling co-star in The Night Before, which opens November 25.
From Jonathan Levine, the acclaimed director of 50/50, comes the new comedy The Night Before. Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) have been friends since childhood, and for a decade, their yearly Christmas Eve reunion has been an annual night of debauchery and hilarity. Now that they’re entering adulthood, the tradition is coming to an end, and to make it as memorable as possible, they set out to find the Nutcracka Ball – the Holy Grail of Christmas parties.
