You’ve already seen Clint Barton’s Avengers 4 get-up, but for the purpose of this article, let’s wind back the clock to Marvel Phase 1, during which time Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were just coming together as one.
Much like Black Widow, Hawkeye made his big-screen debut during The Avengers, before enjoying a pretty prominent role in Age of Ultron three years later – hey, if it wasn’t for Hawkeye’s farm, the heroes would’ve been toast… hunted to the point of extinction by a ruthless superbot.
And while he was sorely missing from Infinity War – ditto for Ant-Man and the Wasp, though their absence was later explained through Peyton Reed’s miniature sequel – Hawkeye will be back on the frontlines next year for the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4. It’ll be a triumphant return for one of the MCU’s most beloved characters, and in order to stir excitement, Marvel concept artist Charlie Wen has shared an early design for what he calls “Urban Hawkeye.”
Urban Hawkeye! I designed this to be different than his superhero version. This would be a costume collaged together from what he already had at home. The final design was done by Andy Park.
There’s a real Daredevil season 1 feel to this makeshift costume, which has been rendered in such a way that it looks as if Clint Barton has simply designed this supersuit (or “Urban Hawkeye”) himself while on downtime from slinging arrows toward an alien army. Or a robot army, as was the case during Age of Ultron.
Avengers 4 drags Hawkeye back into the equation on May 3rd, 2019 – precisely nine weeks after the launch of Captain Marvel, a standalone ’90s adventure tasked with embedding the Skrulls into the wider MCU.
