11) Jason O’Mara (Son Of Batman, Justice League: War, Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis, Batman vs. Robin, Batman: Bad Blood)
Jason O’Mara is a relatively popular Batman performer, having delivered four portrayals in feature length animation, with a fifth set for release in 2016. Throughout Son Of Batman, Justice League: War, Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis and Batman vs. Robin, O’Mara has been praised for his reliably entertaining Batman, the characterization of whom balances dark humour and cynicism particularly well.
10) Troy Baker (Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro, Lego DC Superheroes: Justice League – Attack Of The Legion Of Doom)
Troy Baker’s association with the world of Batman is notable in that he is part of an elite set of voice actors who have portrayed multiple Batman characters, including the Dark Knight himself, on more than one occasion. His body of work includes voicing The Joker, Batzarro, Two-Face, Brainiac, and even a Court Of Owls Lieutenant – but it is as the Caped Crusader for which Baker currently enjoys recognition.
Baker’s Batman has thus far been the version included in the Lego DC animated universe, and as such, involves a significant element of comedy – something the actor is able to deliver with great aplomb.
9) Jeremy Sisto (Justice League: The New Frontier)
Playing Batman in the second of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, Jeremy Sisto creates a character that is quite rightly a small part of a larger whole. The film acts essentially as a Martian Manhunter origin story – depicting his arrival on earth during the period after the Korean War. His path crosses with that of Batman as the two investigate a series of abductions together.
Though Batman is not the centre of the story, Sisto delivers him with an impact sufficient to have him stand out in a film crowded with iconic characters, and internationally recognizable cast members. It remains a notable achievement in the spectrum of Batman performances.
[zergpaid]8) William Baldwin (Justice League: Crisis On Two Earths)
While this ‘alternate universe’ tale keeps Batman as a relatively small part until the third act, the performance delivered by William Baldwin stands out – thanks to the actor’s ability to capture the confidence and stoicism of the vigilante.
With these qualities evident throughout, the upsurge of Batman into the finale of the film feels very much like an organic, natural plot development, rather than a mechanical ‘taking of turns’ by the various Justice League members. As such, Baldwin’s portrayal of Batman is a great example of how a correctly executed voice performance can form an integral part of a larger project.
7) Diedrich Bader (Batman: The Brave And The Bold, MAD, JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time)
For 65 episodes of Batman: The Brave And The Bold, Diedrich Bader delivered a carefully crafted voice performance as the Caped Crusader. The series of standalone storylines benefitted from Bader’s ability to create a lighter tone, while portraying sometimes difficult subject matter – specifically Batman’s bereavements and associated anger. Such was the popularity of Bader’s depiction that he reprised the role for the animated series MAD, and again for the feature length animation JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time.
