CinemaCon 2017 is upon us and already, the Internet is awash with movie-related announcements – Spider-Man: Homecoming is undoubtedly the biggest tentpole to debut new footage. Disney is one such studio in attendance, and the Mouse House took the opportunity to announce the official title for Wreck-It Ralph 2.
Pegged to launch in March of next year, Disney’s animated sequel will now release under the moniker Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. Rich Moore is back behind the lens alongside Phil Johnston, who hashed out the original’s screenplay in tandem with Jennifer Lee of Frozen fame. He’s now been promoted to co-director, and will be overseeing a voice cast comprised of John C. Reilly (Ralph), Sarah Silverman (Vanellope von Schweetz), Jack McBrayer (Fix-It Felix) and Jane Lynch, who is back on board to reprise the role of the no-nonsense Sergeant Calhoun.
Disney will no doubt begin to beef up its ensemble cast for Wreck-It Ralph 2 in the coming months, but at least for now, fans can pour over the sequel’s official logo, which is designed to be a neat little play on the App Store. Besides, if Ralph really plans on breaking the Internet – Kim Kardashian eat your heart out – then we imagine his ploy will involve all sorts of memes and timely satire.

Alongside the announcement, Moore issued a press release outlining the ways in which Wreck-It Ralph 2 will showcase the Internet in a “whole new, imaginative way.”
“To take these characters we love and have them enter the enormous world of the internet has given us so much to explore,” said co-director Rich Moore in a press release. “Our production team has been hard at work designing a world that takes something we all think we know – the internet – but shows it in a whole new, imaginative way.”
Wreck-It Ralph 2 – or Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 as it is now known – will boot online on March 9th, 2018. It makes for quite the mouthful, but aside from its lengthy title, are you excited to see Ralph and Vanellope back in action?
