Following the critical and box office success of last year’s A Quiet Place, the post-apocalyptic horror/thriller which saw John Krasinski take to the feature film director’s chair for the first time, production has started on the movie’s sequel which is now being referred to as Part II.
The announcement that shooting has started was seen on Krasinski’s Twitter account where he posted a photo of a clapperboard on set bearing an image of the farm location from the first movie, with Part II printed underneath.

The star of The Office turned filmmaker is returning as both writer and director on the follow-up and his wife in real life Emily Blunt will be back to reprise her role alongside Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who played her children who together worked out a way to defeat the alien antagonists in the final sequences of A Quiet Place.
A second film was talked about almost immediately after the first effort started to gain traction at the box office and Krasinski has since addressed what would be seen in a second installment, saying that he doesn’t see it just as a sequel but as an expansion on what he presented to audiences last year.
This can be seen in the announcements that Brian Tyree Henry (Child’s Play, Widows) and Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Dunkirk) are set to be joining the cast for A Quiet Place Part II. Talking to IndieWire last month about the movie, Henry said:
“I think that we’re going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it… more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”
While production starts now, audiences won’t see A Quiet Place Part II until early next year, so we’ve got a bit longer to wait to find out what happens in the second chapter of this new franchise.
