Marvel Japan has just released a look at some of the costumes we’re going to see in Avengers: Infinity War in a couple of weeks, and it seems as if they’ve inadvertently confirmed the presence of a certain sardonic hero in the upcoming movie.
The rough translation of the Tweet is that 10 costumes used for shooting Infinity War will be on display in Toys Sapien in Harajuku, Tokyo from April 23rd. From what we can tell, we’ve got: Captain America, Bucky, Mantis, Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch and Loki. Can you spot the one that’s probably not meant to be there?
Yup, it’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man, who’s so far been absent from all promotional material and trailers – and who it was widely believed wasn’t going to be in the movie, as he’s appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp later this year. See for yourself in the gallery below, which also contains some recently released shots from the film.
Of course, the alternative explanation here is that Ant-Man genuinely isn’t in Infinity War, but actually turns up in the untitled Avengers 4 instead, which was shot simultaneously and would most likely use some of the same costumes. We already know that Hope Van Dyne/Wasp is set to appear in it, so it’d make sense for her buddy to show up alongside her.
Still, this new promo shot is an interesting wrinkle. Given that the Russo Brothers have just confirmed that Thanos is stronger than the Hulk and practically indestructible, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are going to need all the help they get to take him out, and a bit of Giant-Man action could be just the ticket.
What do you guys and gals think, though? Is this a rare example of Marvel Studios letting a spoiler leak out accidentally, or is it just a meaningless bit of PR fluff for Avengers: Infinity War?
