The Incredibles 2 And Cars 3 Are In Development At Pixar

Great news, Pixar fans! The day we've all been waiting for is finally here, as the animation studio has announced that a sequel to their 2005 superhero film The Incredibles is in the works. That's not all though. They've also revealed plans to develop Cars 3, which is honestly a no-brainer but is something that I'm going to have to try a bit harder to get excited about.

Great news, Pixar fans! The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here, as the animation studio has announced that a sequel to their 2005 superhero film The Incredibles is in the works. That’s not all though. They’ve also revealed plans to develop Cars 3, which is honestly a no-brainer but is something that I’m going to have to try a bit harder to get excited about.

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger met with Disney shareholders earlier today and delivered the update. Pixar then confirmed the news themselves a bit later via Twitter:

That is unfortunately all of the information we have at the moment, but the announcement itself is incredibly exciting nonetheless. The Incredibles is not only my favorite Pixar film, but literally my favorite movie of all time, so needless to say I’ve been dying to see a sequel for some time now.

Of all Pixar’s properties, The Incredibles always felt like the one that deserved a sequel the most but, until now, the studio has been very tight lipped about the possibility of it ever entering development. Brad Bird has remained open to the possibility of directing a follow-up, but has said that he’d only do it if he could honor the original. Hopefully they’ve found a way to do just that.

As for Cars 3, its makes sense that the studio would want to power ahead on another entry in the series, considering the box office haul of the first two and merchandise potential. However, I think that I speak for most people when I say that I’m not too eager to see yet another film in what is undoubtedly one of their weaker franchises.
