Tom Hardy as the next James Bond?
It’s certainly not out of the question, given the soon-to-be Venom actor has been linked with the 007 role – a role currently occupied by Daniel Craig, who is expected to turn in one final performance via Bond 25 – numerous times before, only for the speculation to dry up soon thereafter.
The overall consensus appears to be that Tom Hardy’s possible involvement in the Bond franchise will be enough to court Christopher Nolan, given the creative duo previously collaborated on The Dark Knight Rises, Inception and WWII epic, Dunkirk. We can but dream.
If nothing else, Hardy has now gained the backing of former 00 agent Pierce Brosnan, who knows a thing or two about wielding that world-famous license to kill.
I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it — that’s what makes Bond.
Among those to toss their proverbial hats into the ring are Tom Hiddleston, Damian Lewis and Idris Elba, though the latter now appears to have accepted defeat in his pursuit of headlining a James Bond movie. So perhaps Tom Hardy really is the bookie’s favorite to land the coveted gig? We’ll find out if anything materializes from this speculation very soon.
Why, you ask? Because Daniel Craig and director Danny Boyle are about to bring the curtain down on this current Bond era, and we imagine MGM and longtime series producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson won’t wait around before pumping some fresh blood in this most prestigious of franchises.
It’ll be a bittersweet transition, for sure, what with Daniel Craig about to notch his fifth James Bond performance. Look for his super-spy to return when Bond 25 hits UK theaters first on October 25th, 2019, before expanding across the pond in time for November 8th.
