Peggy Carter Short Film To Be Screened At Comic-Con?

At the time of this writing, Marvel doesn’t have much left to give away about Captain America: The Winter Soldier. At the time of this writing, Marvel doesn’t have much left to give away about Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As the movie goes into production, many relevant aspects have been revealed, including its cast, synopsis, and some amazing concept art featuring the Winter Soldier and what seems to be a modernized version of the Falcon.

Even though it has been confirmed that Hayley Atwell, who played Agent Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger, is returning for the sequel, the casting of Emily VanCamp as Agent 13 (Sharon Carter, of course) pretty much quashes all expectations regarding Atwell playing the Cap’s love interest. However, Atwell recently told The Age (via /Film) that she’s filmed a couple of scenes in-character for a different (but related) project. Is it a short film? Is it an extra in a future DVD release of a Marvel Studios film? Either way, she’s positive it will screen at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.

“There’s been an online campaign for Peggy to be featured. People really liked her. So Marvel have made sure that as part of Comicon there will be a little kind of snapshot as to what Peggy’s actually really capable of, which was finished here and which was great fun. Hopefully, it will lead to other things.”

While we do love Hayley Atwell and were completely fascinated by the dynamic relationship between Peggy Carter and Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, we do believe that if Marvel wants to show us something at Comic-Con it probably won’t be a short film featuring her character. If they have something planned (and believe me, they do), it needs to be colossal, and forgive me if I’m mistaken, but I don’t really see Hayley Atwell’s aforementioned character being featured at all — fans will be expecting sneak peeks from upcoming movies and one or two revelations about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3.

What do you think? Will Hayley Atwell’s “snapshot” be a highlight at the San Diego Comic-Con?
