A new press release from Paramount confirmed suspicions today, announcing the release of a fourth film in the Paranormal Activity franchise. The statement doesn’t include any details on the film, or even a make-shift title like “Paranormal Activity 4,” but it does list a Paranormal film next to Paramount’s other upcoming movies.
Here’s what the official press release says:
In 2012, Paramount’s release slate highlights include “World War Z,” a zombie thriller starring Brad Pitt and directed by Marc Forster, “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” the next installment in the global franchise starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Channing Tatum, a new chapter in the “Paranormal Activity” franchise, and “The Dictator,” starring Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by Larry Charles, the team behind “Borat.”
Obviously – the real question here isn’t whether or not Paranormal Activity 4 will be successful. It clearly will be, based on the huge sums of cash the other films have made. The real question is what the film could possibly be about, and whether or not it would follow the same related characters of the other movies.
I thought Paranormal Activity 3 impressively held its own against the previous two films in the franchise, and I definitely would see a fourth film.
