With a May 2017 date locked down and set photos already beginning to emerge, Paramount is pushing full steam ahead on its big-screen rendition of camp 90s sitcom Baywatch, and it’s assembled quite the crew of lifeguards in the process.
Taking more than a few cues from Sony’s Jump Street franchise, Seth Gordon’s feature will reportedly pay homage to the original series, but could that pave the way for cameo appearances? One series stalwart that could be in line to appear is Pamela Anderson, who originally played the role of C.J. Parker.
Word comes by way of Entertainment Tonight Canada, where the actress refused to completely rule out a potential cameo, despite turning down the initial offer.
“I haven’t turned it down completely yet. But I have turned down what they offered me. But we’ll see what happens…I haven’t even read the script. I have no idea what it’s about… ‘Baywatch’ was such a huge part of my life. And really they’re trying to do an homage and you know it’s an honour to have them to want me to be a part of it so bad.”
Whether Anderson and Paramount can hash out an arrangement is another question entirely, but the fact that newcomer Kelly Rohrbach has been cast as C.J. Parker could cool talks before they get going in earnest. Unless writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift can figure out a potential workaround.
Baywatch will embark on a slow-mo jog all the way into theaters in time for May 19, 2017. Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra and, more recently, Hannibal Buress complete the cast.
