The casting rumours for Star Wars: Episode VII are really starting to heat up now, with several reports pointing to May 4th as the date that all will finally be revealed. In the lead up to that day though, expect much speculation to hit the internet, starting tonight with a new story from Deadline.
According to them, the cast is having a table read tomorrow in London and the latest word going around Hollywood is that Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Maisie Richardson-Sellers all have roles in the film, starring alongside returning Star Wars alums Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Furthermore, Deadline is hearing that Ford will play a “gigantic” part.
While all of these names have been heavily rumoured in the past, Isaac, as far as I can remember, is a new addition to the mix. If I’m not mistaken (and I very well might be given how many damn casting rumours there have been), this is the first we’re hearing of his involvement. No word yet on which role he’s wanted for, but as one of the more under-appreciated talents in Hollywood, I’m excited to hear that he may be getting another big break (since Inside Llewyn Davis didn’t exactly boost his profile as much as people thought it would).
The other interesting thing to note here is Boyega’s involvement. Though he’s been rumoured for a while, he was recently said to be in the running for a role in Terminator: Genesis, which led most people to believe that he wouldn’t be showing up here. It’s not likely that he can handle two major franchises, so perhaps he’s chosen to head to the galaxy far, far away for his next project?
Stay tuned as we’ll be bringing you all the latest on Star Wars: Episode VII in the lead up to May 4th.
