A good magician never reveals their secret, but in today’s international trailer for action sequel Now You See Me 2, it is the elusive Four Horsemen that find themselves on the back foot after being duped by Daniel Radcliffe’s conniving mastermind.
Returning to the stage after a year spent in hiding, our band of tricksters go in expecting a triumphant encore, though Radcliffe’s Walter Mabry puts paid to those romantic plans. Son to Michael Caine’s wise old Arthur Tressler, Mabry soon becomes the one pulling the strings of the Four Horsemen, orchestrating their most daring heist yet from the shadows.
Lionsgate’s magic sequel brings together Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Lizzy Caplan – hopping into the shoes left vacant by Isla Fisher. Whether the casting switch will be explained in the plot, or brushed over in the vein of Don Cheadle supplanting Terrence Howard in the MCU, remains to be seen.
Then again, Fisher isn’t the only member of the team ducking out of Now You See Me 2, given that Jon M. Chu took the reins of Lionsgate’s crime caper in place of Louis Letterrier. Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman also star.
June 10, 2016 – that’s the date Now You See Me 2 and the Four Horsemen will let us in on The Second Act. Until then, you can get acquainted with old faces and new via the gallery below.
The Four Horsemen return for a second mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.
