It’s starting to seem like the world will never tire of watching Liam Neeson beat bad guys; his latest thriller, titled Non-Stop, sees Neeson as an Air Marshal aboard a plane that is the target of terrorism.
Though we haven’t seen much from the film, the first image was released today and features Neeson looking equally as ready to kick bad-guy-butt as in his more recent Taken, Taken 2 and The Grey. From director Jaume Collet-Serra — who Neeson previously worked with on Unknown — the film also carries 2012 breakout stars Scoot McNairy (Argo) and Nate Parker (Arbitrage). Also on the bill are Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery, Corey Stoll, Anson Mount and Bar Paly.
Though the synopsis (below) hardly seems to hint at an award-winning plot, the movie’s sure to deliver plenty of what audiences love: Neeson doing what he does best.
Bill Marks (Liam Neeson) is a burned-out veteran of the Air Marshals service. He views the assignment not as a life-saving duty, but as a desk job in the sky. However, today’s flight will be no routine trip.
Shortly into the transatlantic journey from New York to London, he receives a series of mysterious text messages ordering him to have the government transfer $150 million into a secret account, or a passenger will die every 20 minutes. What follows is a nail-biting cat and mouse game played at 40,000 feet, with the lives of 200 passengers hanging in the balance.
Non-Stop is still in the filming stages, although a 2013 release date is expected. While I can’t say I’m planning on dropping $10 at the theater to see this one, you can bet the second it’s out on DVD I’ll be renting a copy and settling in for a (relatively) thrilling ride.
