2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle turned out to be a colossal hit for Sony, with its total gross almost scraping $1 billion. It's no surprise, then, that the studio's already working on the sequel, with Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black all set to reprise their roles. Chief among them is Nick Jonas. The singer/actor effectively played the Robin Williams role in the plot as his character Alex – his avatar’s name was Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough – was the player stuck in the game that the others had to free from the mystical jungle. The film ended with time reset and Alex having enjoyed a full life outside of the video game, but apparently he’ll be back inside come the sequel.

Alongside Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner and Alex Wolff will likewise make a comeback for Welcome to the Jungle 2. The four actors played teens – Fridge, Bethany, Martha and Spencer – who discover the Jumanji video game in detention and ended up sucked into it. Again, their arcs seemed to have ended by the movie’s close, as each had learned something about themselves and had matured, but it looks like they’ll be going back into the game nonetheless.

It’s not all returning faces, though, as three big names have also signed up to appear. Ocean’s Eight‘s Awkwafina, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover are set to play currently undisclosed roles. Sony’s keeping the storyline of the third Jumanji movie a secret for now, but it won’t be too long until it comes our way, as it’s due in cinemas on December 13th. Will it match the popularity of the previous film, though? We’ll have to play the (waiting) game and see.
