It’s been a popular theory for a while now that the next proper trailer for Avengers: Endgame might premiere during the 91st Academy Awards ceremony on February 24th, and with the big night just around the corner, YouTuber John Campea has gone out on a limb to predict that this will indeed be the day it happens.
Though many would argue that Marvel Studios is likely to hold off until the week that Captain Marvel comes out on March 8th, if not later, Campea makes the point that since ABC is owned by Disney, it’ll be in the conglomerate’s best interest to entice more people to watch the ceremony’s broadcast, and the promise of a new Endgame trailer would certainly be one way to do it. If Campea’s reasoning holds up, then you can expect Marvel to release a tease in the days beforehand advising fans to watch the show. Meanwhile, to look at this arrangement from the other side, despite declining ratings, Oscar night still draws a huge number of viewers, ensuring that the trailer would instantly find a massive audience if it premiered during the ceremony.
Granted, this is still just speculation for the time being, but seeing how February 24th lies just over two months before the release of Endgame, perhaps the timing is right for some new footage, especially if the Academy is following through on their plans to bring as many Marvel stars as possible to the ceremony.
Either way, you can imagine a fair few MCU fans will be taking an interest in the evening if only to find out if Black Panther can triumph with any of its seven nominations. But regardless of how much Avengers: Endgame footage the night has to offer, all will be revealed when the film hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
