With shooting set to start early next year, some Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 casting news was expected before the end of 2015, but this first addition is particularly intriguing.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, relative unknown Pom Klementieff has been cast in a key role which has yet to be revealed by Marvel Studios. They apparently conducted a wide search for an Asian actress to play this character and she’s even had to do several rounds of chemistry tests, something which means Klementieff will likely be interacting with the core cast.
That obviously includes Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, but who specifically the little known actress actually tested with is unclear.
Klementieff has mostly worked in France, though she did take on a physical martial arts based role in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake. Unfortunately, that doesn’t provide any clues as to who she might be starring as in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, but chances are it’s going to be an action orientated role.
James Gunn is returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, which is currently set to be released by Disney on May 5th, 2017.
