Though many are holding out for new looks at Warner Bros.’ other 2017 tentpoles (read: Wonder Woman and Justice League), Trailer Track is reporting that a brand new trailer for Guy Ritchie’s medieval actioner King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword is in the can.
Pointing to a listing from the BBFC, TT’s report confirms that the impending promo will run for two minutes and 12 seconds and has been rated 12A, which is essentially the UK equivalent of PG-13. No further details were disclosed, but we expect the trailer to slice and dice its way online in the coming weeks.
Headed up by former Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is a bold and gritty reimagining of the legendary fable. Flanked by top-tier talent such as Jude Law, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen and Eric Bana, Hunnam leads the charge as the would-be king, who stumbles upon his royal roots after he famously pulls Excalibur from the stone. Imbued with great power, Arthur then fights on behalf of the resistance, under the watchful eye of a young woman called Guinevere (Bergès-Frisbey). Hot off his powerful portrayal of Pius XIII in The Young Pope, Ritchie’s King Arthur reboot will see Jude Law venture into full-blown villain territory to play the evil tyrant Vortigern – and we can hardly wait.
Twice delayed, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword will finally trot into theaters on May 12th. Those across the pond can expect Guy Ritchie’s gritty reimagining to hit UK shores on May 24th.
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern, Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
