If Disney is wary that Star Wars: The Force Awakens may not reach the eye-watering heights that many expect when it comes to box office figures, the film’s marketing machine isn’t showing it.
Continuing to peel back the secrets of J.J. Abrams hotly-anticipated sequel one layer at a time, it’s Empire that has debuted yet another image from The Force Awakens, this time ushering Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron into the spotlight.
[zerg]Once described as “the best frickin’ pilot in the galaxy,” it appears we’ve caught Isaac’s X-Wing maestro at a bad time. Captured by the First Order and its legions of Stormtroppers, our stricken hero is likely being escorted to someone higher in command – likely Domhnall Gleeson’s General Hux, or Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren.
Arriving not long after the outlet’s media blowout, which introduced half a dozen magazine covers adorned with the film’s key players, Empire’s new still is yet another peek at The Force Awakens prior to its arrival next month. And though the big wigs at Disney and Lucasfilm have done a remarkable job in keeping the core secrets under wraps – the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, for instance – we’re beginning to fear that the studios are risking overexposure with the relentless onslaught of TV spots, one-sheets and character posts. Dare we say it, maybe you can really have too much Star Wars after all.
Now that a final cut is complete – with less lens flare than you might expect – Star Wars: The Force Awakens is ready to zip into theaters on December 18 in North America.
