Upon arriving at your preferred retailer to pick up Avengers: Infinity War – which is scheduled to make the intergalactic journey to home video on August 14th – you might notice the packaging is a little light. This is, of course, due to the fact that a large portion of the titular supergroup was eviscerated by Thanos (Josh Brolin) during the cataclysmic finale.
Amongst those who bit the dust at the hand of the Mad Titan was everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood web-slinger, Spider-Man. The entire sequence, made infamous by Tom Holland and his ad-libbed line – “Mr. Stark, please, I don’t want to go” – caught most off guard and delivered an emotional gut check we didn’t see coming, simply because many thought Iron Man would be the one to check out.
That said, what if Tony Stark did kick the bucket, not in Infinity War, but Avengers 4? Well, as luck would have it, and just in case you’re having some difficulty picturing his demise, one fanboy has envisioned what such a situation would look like. And for those still recovering from Parker’s death, you might want to turn away for this piece of art.
Instagram user ultraraw26 has brilliantly captured what the quietus of Tony Stark might resemble in Avengers 4 – which you can check out below. Accompanied by the caption, “Please don’t go, Mr. Stark,” the image is visually stunning and metaphysically wrenching. For those of you who can stomach it, enjoy!
In case you didn’t know, Avengers: Infinity War is currently available on your preferred digital platform if waiting until August 14th is too much of a hassle. But be sure to let us know in the comment section below if you think the above image will come to fruition the next time the titular supergroup take to the screen.
Of course, that’ll be in the aforementioned Avengers 4, which arrives next May. And even if Iron Man doesn’t meet his maker, you can be sure that at least a few of your favorite heroes will. It is the ending of an era, after all.
