Now that Ant-Man and the Wasp is on the verge of release, and MCU fans have been left mulling over Avengers: Infinity War‘s remarkable bleak finale for close to 10 weeks, surely it’s only a matter of time before Marvel’s biggest ever movie descends on Blu-ray and DVD?
Rumors of a mid-August release window have circulated online, while “Infinity Gauntlet” scribe Jim Starlin is of the belief that Infinity War‘s home video release will include almost 30 minutes’ worth of additional footage – footage dedicated to Thanos and his super-secret backstory.
And now, thanks to one perceptive Twitter user (h/t Heroic Hollywood) we may have further intel relating to the actual content included on Infinity War‘s Blu-ray. It’ll seemingly feature the usual bonus features one would associate with an MCU pic – a two-minute gag reel, along with a brief intro from Joe and Anthony Russo – but there’s no mention of an extended featurette for Thanos. Only two deleted scenes (“Hunt for the Mind Stone” and “Happy Has a Perspective”) appear to involve Marvel’s Mad Titan, which really leaves us with more questions than answers.
Chances are Jim Starlin was wrong in saying that the Russo Brothers had captured 30 minutes’ worth of additional footage, and that Thanos’ fabled backstory was actually nixed during the script stage. It’s yet to be confirmed, of course, but it certainly makes sense – you know, providing this latest intel for Avengers: Infinity War is bang on point.
The original German listing can be found here, which, if nothing else, tells us that Marvel Studios really is on the verge of announcing the ETA of Avengers: Infinity War‘s Blu-ray. As always, watch this space for more.
