The MCU fandom has been subjected to both highs and lows this week, what with Comcast tabling a $65 billion all-cash offer for the rights to intellectual properties owned by 21st Century Fox – effectively nullifying any hope of seeing the mutant brethren and aforementioned multi-billion dollar franchise crossover – and Avengers: Infinity War finally smashing through the prestigious $2 billion mark.
To make matters worse, yesterday, CineEurope “served up some exclusive glimpses of the untitled fourth Avengers film alongside a special early look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel,” neither of which will be made available to those of us across the pond. Add in the climax of Infinity War, and the post-credits scene involving Nick Fury and his last transmission, and I think it’s safe to say the MCU fandom is a little high-strung at the moment.
Thankfully, MCU News & Tweets has provided a bit of a reality check by way of a new behind the scenes look at the production of Infinity War. The image in question shows Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Joe and Anthony Russo sharing a laugh while watching the playback of what one can only assume was footage of the battle of Wakanda.
Unfortunately, we’ve still got a ways to go before some sort of resolution to the snap of doom, as Avengers 4 isn’t due to hit screens until May 3rd of next year. On the flip side, though, we’re less than a month removed from the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp, which should provide some perspective into how the remaining members of the titular supergroup will avenge those reduced to dust by Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.
As for Captain Marvel, it’s highly unlikely Marvel Studios will debut any footage prior to Peyton Reed’s upcoming sequel hitting theaters, but should that change, we’ll be sure to let you know.
