There’s quite a lot to look forward to if you’re a Star Wars fan; between the recently announced slate of upcoming films, the fast-approaching Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte, and season two of Andor still cooking in the background, there’s plenty of evidence that George Lucas’ storied sci-fi mythos is still going strong nearly five decades on.
But few of these incoming additions to the Star Wars family look to be packing quite the punch that Ahsoka is, and with a brand new trailer to feast our eyes on, it’s clear as day that this is one show that plans on smashing the spectacle ceiling of Star Wars‘ episodic endeavors.
Indeed, between a closer look at Ivanna Sakhno’s tenacious new villain, the looming form of Lars Mikkelsen’s Grand Admiral Thrawn, and a glimpse at the kinetic trio of Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ahsoka‘s personality only seems to be matched by its affinity for those sweet Star Wars space battles.
Dawson portrays the eponymous former Jedi Padawan, while Bordizzo and Winstead portray Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren and New Republic general Hera Syndulla, respectively. The late Ray Stevenson also appears as antagonist Baylan Skoll, while Genevieve O’Reilly and Hayden Christensen reprise their roles as Mon Mothma and Anakin Skywalker, respectively.
The first two episodes of Ahsoka will land on Disney Plus on August 23, and, should the show keep in line with its fellow Star Wars content, new episodes will release individually on a weekly basis. The series will consist of eight episodes.
