Come April, Netflix will be seeing the arrival of a generous array of horror movies and shows, from major franchise entries to brand new releases, and most of them are set to drop on the first day of the month.
Out of the seven horror and semi-horror films that are being made available on April 1st, the most renowned by a country mile is Deliverance, John Boorman’s classic 1972 back-country thriller starring Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds. Meanwhile, in a slasher vein, we have the Voorhees double bill that is 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason and the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot. But if Leatherface is your killer of choice, 2013’s Texas Chainsaw 3D will be streaming on the platform as well.
On top of that, you’ve got the Will Smith-led I Am Legend, 1999’s The Bone Collector, and if you really want to stretch the definition of a horror movie, the 2006 animation Monster House is also coming to Netflix.
Once all those April 1st additions have become available, you only have to wait until April 3rd for the Netflix Original film Suzzanna: Buried Alive, which sees a murdered pregnant woman seek revenge against her killers. On April 5th, Part 2 of the first season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is then arriving, before the Netflix Original zombie apocalypse series Black Summer premieres on April 11th.
Last on the list is The Silence, from Annabelle director John R. Leonetti, which is based on a 2015 novel with a notably similar premise to A Quiet Place, complete with sound-sensitive monsters.
So, those are the additions that horror fans can look forward to next month, but in the meantime, you might do well to check out Julia Ducournau’s excellent Raw, which is set to leave Netflix on April 4th.
