It seems that barely a week goes by without the DCU being caught up in some kind of bad buzz, but The Flash flailing at the box office at the exact same time another bombshell report on the movie’s production – in addition to Superman: Legacy screen-tests reportedly being conducted – is a triple-pronged maelstrom that’s already lit a fire under the fandom yet again.
After underlining in no uncertain terms that it had been overhyped beyond belief, Andy Muschietti’s multiversal caper has been sifting downwards on Rotten Tomatoes to a lukewarm 66 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating, in addition to landing the DCU’s worst-ever CinemaScore, at the exact same time the Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing is on its way to a crushingly disappointing opening debut.
That’s bad enough in and of itself, but The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit then revealed that Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, Tom Brittney, Emma Mackey, Phoebe Dynevor and Rachel Brosnahan were all on the Warner Bros. lot in full wardrobe and makeup right after the outlet unleashed even more details on The Flash‘s first two endings that were ultimately scrapped, causing Gunn to come under even more fire for ditching plans for a Henry Cavill-led sequel in favor of another reboot.
Of course, it’s entirely on-brand for the DCU to find itself beset by woes that emerge from all angles on a regular basis, but even by its typical standards this has got to be one of its most fascinating weekends in a long time. The Flash is in danger of flopping, the Superman: Legacy unveiling edges closer, all while SnyderVerse supporters have their fury reignited over the ones that got away.
